Plattform Industrie 4.0 presents 2030 vision for shaping digital ecosystems globally
Industrie 4.0 is an integral part of production. Over the past eight years, many factories have been calibrated for flexible and smart production. The transition from linear value creation chains to flexible and globally connected value creation systems is gaining traction. Platform Industrie 4.0 aims to shape the development towards global digital ecosystems. In its 2030 vision, autonomy, interoperability and sustainability are key guidelines.
The vision underlines the need for openness and globalization of a digitalized industry. Above all, this requires open, interoperable standards, common IT security solutions and suitable regulatory frameworks. Within this vision, autonomy stands for a free scope of design, which guarantees competitiveness and self-determination for digital business models. Interoperability is the basic requirement for cooperation and open ecosystems, permitting plurality and flexibility. The concept of sustainability emphasizes modern industrial value creation, which ensures a high standard of living. The vision reflects European values and is key to securing the global competitiveness of German companies. More about the 2030 Vision and what platform partners have contributed thus far to make this vision a reality can be found from 1.-5. April at the Hannover Messe (Hall 8, D24).
Results of Platform Industrie 4.0
Last year, the platform again issued a series of publications on main topics and held numerous events. All current results of the platform are summarized in the new progress report. Some highlights: After the reference architecture model RAMI 4.0 gained international recognition, the concept of the Administration Shell – the internet language of machines - has been further specified and described in detail. In addition, first demonstration projects for field testing have started. Progress on IT security continues. For example, we are working with partners in Japan on common concepts for secure data exchange. Initial implementation projects are also in planning. Both activities contribute tangible solutions to make the new vision of digital ecosystems a reality. To advance legal frameworks, platform actors are intensively involved in discussions around the envisaged GTC legal reform. In addition, AI and Blockchain were also on the agenda. The working group on digital business models has intensified its efforts. It highlights the need for German industry to vehemently address the issue in order to ensure its competitiveness. Within the agreed cooperations with China, Japan, the USA and the European partners, a lively exchange has taken place. Industrie 4.0 continues to be a sought-after partner worldwide.
